Berry Secures Local Funding in Bond Bills
Earmarks Included for Community Projects
Senate Majority Leader Frederick E. Berry is pleased to announce that the legislature has passed a variety of bond bills filled with funding for hundreds of state and city projects in the Commonwealth. These capital spending projects total more than $10 billion in bonds.
“This series of bonds is a welcome source of funding for a wide array of local projects in Massachusetts. I sincerely hope that the Governor will sign these bills and quickly release the funds so that our cities and towns and move forward with these communities improvements,” said Majority Leader Berry.
Highlighted local projects with secured funding include:
- $72 million for the costs of the renovation of the probate and family court building in Salem
- $15 million for the design and construction of a parking garage in Salem
- $106,433,169 for the library and learning commons at Salem State College
- $60 million for the costs associated with the construction of the Essex North Shore Agricultural and Technical School in Danvers
- $31,936,120 for a new allied health building, backfill and renovations to Ferncroft at North Shore Community College in Danvers
- $10 million for the redesign and reconstruction of, and improvements to, exit 19 of route 128 in Beverly, including but not limited to construction of an overpass
- $3.5 million for waterfront development in Beverly
- $1 million for the restoration of the Lynch Park Carriage House in Beverly
- $2 million for flood mitigation in Peabody
