BOSTON - Senator Frederick E. Berry (D-Peabody) recently announced that the Peabody Fire Department will receive a $1,885 grant for the Student Awareness of Fire Education Program. The grants were administered by the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services.
"It is extremely important that children learn at a young age about fire prevention and the dangers of fire," said Berry. "More importantly, the SAFE Program teaches children how to react to fire and smoke in potentially life-threatening situations. There have been countless success stories of children saving themselves or loved ones by using fire-safety behaviors they learned from the SAFE Program."
