Frederick E. Berry's contributions to education during his more than 20 years representing the 2nd Essex District in the Massachusetts Senate, will be recognized this fall with the dedication of the new, $24.2-million building at North Shore Community College's Danvers campus in his name.

The announcement came the same week in which legislation was passed allowing recertification of the Beverly Public Library six months ahead of schedule. As a result of that budget provision, which Berry pressed hard for, residents of the city will once again be able to access the collections of all North of Boston libraries.

Berry, who has cerebral palsy, recognizes more than most the critical role institutions like our schools, colleges and libraries play in allowing people to realize their full potential. His achievements have been an inspiration to many, and make him fully deserving of the honor NSCC and the state Board of Higher Education have bestowed upon him.
