Sen. Fred Berry, D-Peabody, the Senate majority leader, received the Legislative Legacy Award for his contributions and support of victim services during the last two decades, according to the Massachusetts Office for Victim Assistance.

Berry was instrumental in passing the Victim Bill of Rights in 1984. He received the award during a ceremony at the State House on April 14.
