Senator Berry Receives Perfect Score on Environmental Report Card
Press Release - January 14, 2002

Senator Frederick E. Berry (D-Peabody) recently received a score of one hundred percent on the Massachusetts Audubon Society's legislative report card. The Audubon Society publishes and grades the environmental voting records of each Massachusetts legislator in order to inform citizens of the performance of their elected officials in protecting the environment in Massachusetts. The report card is a compilation of the roll call votes by state legislators on environmental bills or funding measures addressed during last year's session.

"I am very proud of the actions of the legislature for addressing the critical needs of our environment," said Senator Berry. "The environmental legislation passed during last year's session will generate tangible benefits to the North Shore and across the state."

Members of the Massachusetts Senate were graded on environmental legislation related to the acquisition of open space, water quality management, wildlife habitat protection, and the maintenance of out parkways.

"We applaud Senator Berry for his outstanding environmental voting record during the past session. His grade 'A' score this year further exemplifies his extraordinary contribution to preserving the unique landscapes of the North Shore." Chris Hardy, Massachusetts Audubon's legislative liaison.

The Massachusetts Audubon Society is the largest conservation organization in New England, concentrating its efforts on protecting the nature of Massachusetts for people and wildlife. They operate 41 wildlife sanctuaries that are open to the public and serve as the base for its conservation, education, and advocacy efforts.
