Senator Berry Announces Municipal Recycling Grants

Senator Frederick E. Berry (D-Peabody) announced today that recycling grants, totaling $22,867.09, will be awarded to each of the municipalities that he represents. Municipal Recycling Grants are used to enhance municipal recycling programs and educate the public about the recycling programs available to them.

"I'm am very pleased that state money will be used to aid the recycling programs in the cities and town that I represent," said Senator Berry. "These grants will give municipalities the opportunity to improve their recycling services and educate the public on the significance of recycling."

The Municipal Recycling Grant that will be awarded to:

  • Beverly is for the amount of $6,936.20 and will be used to pay for consumer education mailers, home composting bins, and wheeled recycling carts.
  • Danvers is for the amount of $4,145.41 and will be used to pay for consumer education mailers, "Don't Trash Grass" brochures, home composting bins, and home composting brochures.
  • Peabody is for the amount of $6,023.72 and will be used to pay for consumer education mailers and public space recycling receptacles.
  • Salem is for the amount of $5,761.76 and will be used to pay for consumer education mailers, multi-family door hangers, and wheeled recycling carts.

The grants are administered by the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs and the Department of Environmental Protection. The Clean Environment Fund provides the funds for grant programs related to recycling.
